Cue the Hilary Duff soundtrack, we're headed to Laguna Beach...
Lets gooooo backkkkkkk, back to the beginnnnnningggggg. UGH I freakin' loved that show. I mean who wasn't addicted to the love triangle of Lauren Conrad, Kristen Cavallari and Stephen Colletti?! These privileged teens grew up in one of the most beautiful beach towns in the country and that was made clear on the show. The curiosity for what Laguna Beach actually looked like met with my nostalgic need to find LC's house and drive by Laguna Beach High School (my eyes actually watered up) brought me up the coastline one Saturday to do just that.
Laguna beach is located about 80 miles north of downtown San Diego and depending on the lovely highway 5 traffic, it should take you about an hour and a half - a perfect day trip with my co-pilot boyfriend.
I went into this trip without doing much research - I like to plan but always leave room for spontaneity and time to just get lost. I did however talk to my friend who lived in Santa Monica to figure out where to go to see some sweet views, and yes - they delivered.
Set your GPS to Montage Laguna Beach Spa and park right along route one wherever you can find a spot. Find your way into the surrounding grounds of the 5-star palace and you'll be able to follow a path that stretches through a park and out to a few amazing view points.
We then headed up the coast further and drove through downtown Laguna past the boutiques I can't afford and restaurants with overpriced Salmon plates. We were more interested in seeing all that we could in the car than on foot, so we took into the hills to check out some sweet houses and views from the peaks of Laguna. We continued driving north until it seemed the magic was running out and we were headed into LA. Time to drive back down the coast but first,
I HAD TO FIND LC's HOUSE. Okay before you think I'm absolutely crazy, I wasn't going to go anywhere near it, I just wanted to see it. Proof that it existed and dream about swimming in that giant infinity pool. After scouring google, I found a blogger who was just as into this as I was and found the instructions.
Surprisingly, the house is perfectly visible from Route 1. Yes, perched perfectly atop the cliffside gazing into the pacific. Head south from downtown Laguna, you'll actually be surprised as to how far south it is from the middle of town.
Start looking up when you're about here:
Surprisingly enough, you literally can't miss it. After seeing miles of houses stacked on top of each other, the former Conrad mansion stands alone in all its glory. (Okay lmao I am really dramatic at this point)
After researching Laguna a bit more, next time I'll be sure to check out 1000 Steps Beach and The Top of The World. What else did I miss that's a must see for next time? Comment below!
